The Moon becomes active in my life with Natasha’s arrival on October 30, 2018
On October 30th, 2018 I came home as was usual at that time to the painters painting my house. However, unusual for that day, Eric the painter said that a small stray dog had been spending time on our porch. As he said this I saw her come down to the sidewalk. I tried to call her closer, but she hid under a parked car. I was very afraid that my wife Linda would see her and become upset, as she is very troubled by the number of stray animals in our community. This was around two o’clock when we got home. I could not catch her, so went about my business and did not tell my wife. Then around five o’clock, I came out on my porch and there she was. I still could not catch her, but decided to tell my wife since the dog was clearly distressed. Together my wife and I slowly coaxed the dog inside with some mozzarella cheese. Then we closed the door.
I should say that Linda gets very attached to her dogs in the past. She had lived without a dog for as long as I have known her, since 2008, in part because losing them is such a difficult experience. I knew that she may not have wanted a dog, but she later told me that within ten minutes she did decide to keep her. Of course she did not tell me this for almost a week.
The dog hid for the first night. We could not find her but knew that she was in the house. Over the next few days we were able to befriend her. As a dog, much like as with the Tarot Trump of the Moon, she communicated indirectly or in ways that were definitely open to interpretation. We knew that she had had a rough time on the streets. She had trouble trusting us. She was somewhat subdued and dis-spirited but we were patient with her.
Linda and I had had an understanding of her situation from the beginning, and on November 18 it came to pass: She gave birth to four pups, all boys. Over the course of the weeks and months to come, they became the center of our life, and then the hardest part. We had to find homes for all of these little wonderful personalities with whom we now shared our house. There was no way that we could keep five dogs. We knew that we would never forgive ourselves if we did not do our utmost to find them the best of homes. So we did.
We worked with a local rescue to find prospective owners for her pups. Tabby, Marlon, and Andy all have new owners now and live in homes with love and security. That is our hope and wish, and putting it into action with the help of Underdog Rescue, it is out of our hands now. We kept Natasha of course, but it took awhile for us to settle on a name for her. We also kept her youngest pup whom we had named after Carl Sagan, but with Natasha’s name we named him Boris. And now, six months later, with the two of them playing wonderfully everyday in our home, my wife Linda’s and my life has a new center. And I will continue every day in my lessons of understanding the unspoken.
